A Quick Morning Note
The days get seemingly colder. My office mates were laughing at me yesterday for wearing so many layers and today they don't stop mentioning how cold it is outside. As for yesterday morning, there was something I neglected to mention. Before coming to work I managed to barely squeeze in an episode of 24: however, this cost me coming into work 1 minute late. As a result my punch card now reads 8:31 AM. I did not think much of it since I have been so early so many times, but my section chief got up from his chair and took note of my time card. Nothing was said to me, but this may have to do with the fact that I will begin my eikawas (adult English conversation classes) with his brother next week.
Tomorrow, I leave for Kagoshima City for yet another conference. Mid-Year Seminar, as they call it, is strategically placed this time as to keep the JETs informed of possible ideas (and in reality to keep you from getting too homesick or depressed). Everything is paid for by the Board of Education, of course. I only hope that I get as much money as I did for the time before.
I am off to Kishira Elementary. I need to arrive a bit early because they neglected to send me a lesson plan yesterday. I am always looking for fun "American" songs and games to teach the children, so if you have any ideas, please let me know. As of now, the "gimme 5, up hi, down lo, too slow" is a hit. I also do the one where you lay your hands underneath your partner's hands and you try to smack them quickly. There's also the ever so popular Simon Says and alphabet song, and what I'd like to call -- buzzer games -- with my Taboo buzzer. Thanks Kacy, you are a life saver!
