Happy Thanksgiving (again)!
I have to say that even though we did have quite a great Thanksgiving here, I will miss sharing it with my family and friends back home. I would hope that you would miss a Thanksgiving without us as well, although I am already pretty sure you will. Yesterday, Cristina and I trekked to Kanoya after school in an attempt to find some more winter wear. I find the mornings here colder than I am used to. However, as the hours pass by, the day gets a bit warmer. (I think it has something to do with the sun.) When we arrived at Uniqlo, I could not find anything that I fancied under $100, so I left without buying anything. Cristina also left without buying anything, but did almost purchase her 3rd jacket. (She still has not worn the first two.) We then went to Shimamura, a cheap chain of clothing stores, to get a few more affordable things. Come to think of it, I do not think they will help us much through winter, but at least they were good values. After Shimamura, we headed toward Laura’s house for some leftovers. I felt bad because Laura seemed to be on her deathbed she was so sick. This, however, did not stop me from serving myself a huge plate of stuffing, sweet potatoes and pie. We managed to boil some water and brew her some tea, but that was about it. Once we arrived back at Cristina’s, I connected my laptop to her Broadband access that she had just been using for her long distance calls since her computer crashed. Therefore, I was able to download a large set of pictures, but did not manage to find our second memory card with all the pictures from Yabusame. If you are wondering why we have not been taking so many pictures, it’s because we keep on running out of battery and the most inopportune times and the rechargeable batteries that we do have don’t seem to recharge. So, I think I may just bite the bullet and get a really good set of rechargeable batteries.
As for Cristina’s birthday, November 28, we are heading up to Nichinan and Miyazaki City for the weekend in Miyazaki-ken. I am excited because Osa and Tata, friends that Laura has had since the Peace Corps in the Philippines, seemed to have planned a good weekend.
Another exciting piece of news: Tonight is my first eikawa (adult English conversation class). It starts at 7:00, but I do not even know where it is. Uto-Kacho (aka boss man) has told me that his brother, who is one of the three to five people in the class, will call me at 7:00 to either pick me up or with directions on how to get there. Hopefully, they are not expecting anything too serious for tonight. I think I am just going to do some introductions and show them some pictures of the places I have been.
Well, I wish you the best on this Thanksgiving holiday. Thinking of you all and hopefully you will be as well come tomorrow while beginning to tackle your Christmas shopping list. (Just Kidding!)
