Here's the Story 'bout the Hurricane
Well, it is 11 a.m. and we are still here. The typhoon is now a category 2, so we are taking it seriously but it is a bit more comforting than before. Unfortunately, it has been just between the islands that belong to Kagoshima and Uchinoura. So the damage to my house and my town must be horrible.
As of 9 p.m. last night, the winds began blowing pretty hard. I was fine for the moment so I went to sleep. I woke up at 1 a.m. when it really got bad. Water began to seep through the windows on the east wall so we moved into the toilet room which is probably the most secure room and on the west side of the house at about 3 a.m. It felt safe(r) but it still sounded like we were in some scary wind tunnel with vobrating walls. We stayed there till about 6 a.m. till we had to get out and lie down in the hallway because we were so cramped and tired from not sleeping. Luckily, we have had light electricity this whole time and everytime we lose it, it comes on about 10 seconds later.
On the more ridiculous side, my boss called me yesterday and told me to call him this morning so I could head into work. He's f!@#$%^& crazy. I do not even do anything at work but surf the net and write emails. In any case, I tried calling him this morning and the phone call did not go through or something, so I am not going to worry about it.
A minute ago there was a pretty big lull in the storm. We have no idea if we are in the eye or what because there is no web site with updates fewer than every 6 hours. (I cant believe that either, but its true.) So, I went outside for about 1 minute to fix the shutters in the bedroom that had slid down and exposed about one sliding glass door. Our cars that I was worried were going to fly away are still there. All the fences around the area are knocked down but dont seem to be flying anywhere since they are so heavy. The only thing that worried me were these heavy roof tiles that were all over the floor from a small shed nearby. After I got back in, I noticed that the shutters have a lock on them to keep them in place, so I went ahead and locked it this time.
Well, I will try to update this as soon as I can, but if I don't, please do not freak out. It is probably just that I have lost electricity at work (or the internet at least). I am kind of scared to see the status of my town AND OF MY HOUSE, but I am still a bit curious. Hopefully this thing leaves tonight, maybe we will have to wait till tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed.
